This quilt was made for my sweet baby girl, Annaliese Richelle. When I found out I was pregnant, I started searching for the perfect pattern to use for a baby quilt. I had chosen the Blue Jean Teddy Balloon Ride nursery theme, but I did not want to use the fabrics from that line in the quilt. I wanted it to coordinate with the nursery theme, but not be too "baby" looking so that she will still use it when she is older.
I knew that I wanted to use pinks, yellows, greens and blues, so when I found this "Salt Water Taffy" quilt pattern I immediately fell in love with it.

I scaled down the pattern to crib size, slightly altered the color arrangment, and emphasized the pink a bit more. This is my original design in EQ5:

I used the patchwork fabric from the BJT line to find coordinating lights and darks of the four colors, and then used it for the backing. I also found a cute white fabric printed with little pastel letters to use as the background.

I pieced this quilt over Christmas break (5.5 months pregnant) and quilted it even later. Consequently, it isn't my best work. But that's ok -- if it was perfect then I wouldn't feel comfortable letting Annaliese use it!
We took the quilt to the hospital with us. Annaliese is one day old here.

We snuggled together under the quilt as soon as we got home.
Now we use it often when she plays on the floor.
