Completed Fall 2002
19" x 28"

I made this quilt for my sister-in-law. Once while searching the web for quilting ideas I found these pictures of a wallhanging. I liked the heart block and the use of several shades within one color family. So I designed one using the leftover fabrics from my Woven Ribbon wallhanging. I added a 1-inch sashing to make the individual blocks stand out more.

Since I was using leftover fabric, the only thing I had to shop for was the sashing fabric. I found the perfect print that used all the colors in the hearts and had a geometric feel to it.

This was the first quilt I made that used a visible quilting thread. I found variegated threads in pink, green and blue, so the stitching was visible on each of the fabrics whether it was light or dark. Consequently, I picked out a lot of stitches and started over several times!

I thought this wallhanging was a fitting gift for my sister-in-law. Amy likes hearts and the color pink. Plus, she herself has a beautiful heart. It's a perfect match!
