| I made this wallhanging for my dear friend Sarah in honor of her marriage to Nathan Talley. I searched for a block that had "wedding" or "wedding ring" in the title, other than the "Double Wedding Ring" pattern (I'm not ready for that challenge yet!). My inspiration was Wedding Ring from Quiltime Free Downloads.
I found the lovely batik and marble prints at Angie's Nine Patch in Effingham. Because there were 144 half-square triangles, I used a great technique that I found -- Julie's Half-Square Triangle Directions. Basically I cut two large rectangles, drew a grid and diagonals, sewed a quarter-inch on each side of the diagonal lines, and then cut it all apart. |

| Trimming them down to size took time, but it was much faster than cutting 288 triangles and sewing on the bias! This was the first quilt I made that was on-point. Always trying new things... |

| I chose this block because of its name, Wedding Ring. In doing some research, I found out that it is also known as "Crown of Thorns". How appropriate. I prayed that as Sarah and Nathan exchanged wedding rings they would vow to always place the Man who wore the Crown of Thorns at the head of their marriage. It was an honor to be a part of their wedding ceremony and be to able to present this gift to them in person. God Bless you, Sarah and Nathan! |
