This flannel rag quilt was another combined effort with my mother-in-law Kathy. While my family was home for Christmas, we decided to test the flannel quilt idea using her embroidery machines to do the quilting motif. We were thrilled to learn that we could hoop 2 pieces of flannel and embroider a stippling motif without having to use any interfacing or stablizers. 8 inch squares also worked well in her hoops, so we could cut them to the right size initially. We purchased a design from Embroidery Library, which has a nice selection of stippling designs for the purpose of quilting.
